MY THOUGHTS

Here’s another addition to the Indian club section of my collection—this time from Chennaiyin FC. I picked this one up from Classic Football Shirts once again, and as usual, the price was too good to pass up.

This is the club’s third shirt, featuring a striking yellow base with subtle blue trim accents. It’s a fresh and vibrant look, and the design includes chevron patterns on both the front and back that have a lightning bolt feel to them—dynamic without being over-the-top.

Front and centre, there’s a bold graphic of a Dhrishti Bommai, a traditional symbol meant to ward off evil, which also features in the club’s crest. It’s a culturally rich and unique design element that really gives the shirt character.

Like with all the Nivia shirts in my collection, the logos and sponsor details are screen printed directly into the fabric, keeping the production affordable—especially important for local fans. However, this one is a player-spec version, identifiable by the additional sponsor logos on the chest and sleeves, which are often left off the standard retail versions.
All in all, it’s another standout piece—bright, culturally distinctive, and great value for a lesser-seen shirt on the UK market.
