MY THOUGHTS

Would you ever buy a football shirt without seeing it first? That was exactly the case with this FC Metz shirt. It went on sale, but the design wasn’t revealed until after it had sold out—a bold and unique approach that surely deterred some buyers. Especially considering the hefty price tag of £126.99!

Given that it’s a Kappa shirt, I was confident it would be well-designed, and when the reveal came, I was thrilled with my decision. The shirt is crafted to look like an artist’s first draft, with sponsors and logos roughly sketched onto the fabric, creating a truly one-of-a-kind aesthetic. It also came in a wooden presentation box, designed to replicate how paintings are transported globally—a fantastic nod to the artistic concept.

One particularly noteworthy detail is the Ligue 1 patch on the sleeve, which matches the secondary colour of the shirt. While this might not seem extraordinary for other leagues, it’s only the third time in Ligue 1 history that a coloured patch has been allowed, making it a subtle yet meaningful feature.

Add to all this the fact that only 500 of these shirts exist, and you truly have an exceptional, limited-edition piece. It’s a standout addition to my collection and worth every penny for its uniqueness and craftsmanship.
