MY THOUGHTS

This is the second Werder Bremen shirt in my collection, replacing the 2019/2020 home shirt—which, to be fair, was a lovely shade of green. That one had a lighter tone than usual, especially when compared to this anniversary edition, which opts for a deeper, richer green.

This shirt marks Werder Bremen’s 125th anniversary, and it definitely caught my eye when it was first released. But at the time, I’d already picked up quite a few boxed shirts, and since it wasn’t particularly limited, I held off on buying it. Fast forward a year, and I spotted it on sale for £50.00—an offer I simply couldn’t turn down.

Seeing it in person, I’m so glad I waited. It’s a beautifully executed shirt. I’ve always had a soft spot for retro crests, and the way the vintage Werder badge is printed across both the front and back gives the shirt a real sense of heritage. The sponsor and Hummel logos are cleverly blended into the shirt's body, resulting in an elegant 'green-out' aesthetic that keeps things clean and unified.

And to top it all off, it comes in a presentation box, which adds that extra touch of class. It’s a great example of how a modern shirt can pay tribute to tradition without going over the top.
